Weekend Highlights: Meet the Candidates, Boston Arts (ähts) Festival, Akrobatik and More!

Wednesday, August 27th

Candid ConversationsLet your voice and suggestions be heard about the Dearborn 6-12 STEM School Project at a community meeting hosted by Boston City Councillor Tito Jackson at the Roxbury Community College Media Arts Center (1234 Columbus Avenue, Roxbury) 6:00pm. This event is open to the public. 

Tonight, meet the candidates at the Candid Conversations at The Urban League (88 Warren St, Roxbury) 6:00pm – 9:00pm.  Candidates that will be in attendance: Gubernatorial, Suffolk Sheriff, 2nd Suffolk Senate, 5th Suffolk Representative, 7th Suffolk Representative, 12th Suffolk Representative and 14th Suffolk Representative. If you can’t make it tonight, there are sessions on August 28th and September 4th. Same time. Same place. Light refreshments will be served all days. Don’t forget to vote on September 9th! 

Enjoy a (FREE!) movie night tonight at The Strand Theatre (543 Columbia Rd, Dorchester) at 7:00pm for the screening of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner hosted by WCVB-TV’s Karen Holmes Ward followed by a conversation with actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner (“Theo” of the Cosby Show) and the Huntington’s production and director David Esbjornson. Hang out with the cool people of Future Boston Alliance at Minibar (51 Huntington Ave) 7:00pm – 11:00pm  for AssembleBOS: RAWMixxTrent and Mike Caizzi will be displaying their works. Music for your listening pleasure will be provided byDJ Roland. FREE!

Thursday, August 28th

ALL Good, the lovechild of A Lil’ Louder®, is turning 1! Come celebrate at The Good Life (28 Kingston St). No cover. No dress code. No coat check. Arrive early to avoid disappointment.

AkrobatikFriday, August 29th

If you are out on The Cape, you’ll want to stop by Pufferbellies (183 Iyannough Rd, Hyannis) for Over the Bridge Hip Hop Fest featuring Akrobatik. Tickets start at $10.00 and you can get them here. This is an 18+ event.

Saturday, August 30th

The Boston Arts (ähts) Festival kicks off today and runs through Sunday. See various artisans show off their work in Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park (105 Atlantic Ave) 12:00pm – 7:00pm.The event is family-friendly and FREE.

Party in the Park Jeep Jones Park (205 Roxbury Street) from 12:00pm – 8:00pm with  DJ’s: M.O.T.H. (Christopher Martin Grant), Bob Diesel and a special guest performer. This event is FREE. All ages.
